EducationAt pre-collegial level, I had the privilege of learning in both the British curriculum (GCSE/IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma & Bilingual diploma program. I have a BA in International Relations and Business Management (3.70) from United States International University, working on an MA in International Relations (3.92) from United States International University, and working towards Post Graduate studies in Education.
ExperienceI have over 6 years experience in tutoring students from Grades 3 to college level. One of my earlier tutoring encounters was hosting a summer camp for students transitioning from other syllabuses into the IB program; the modules included English, Math and Science.
Having taken the standardized tests and also acquired competitive skills in test preparation, I find myself in a unique position to guide candidates through the process. I am also adept in guiding students through college applications and essay writing from being a peer counselor on campus, and later a career counselor.
I am resourceful at helping students master:
Reading, Writing and Literature
Mathematics (all sections)
The SAT,ACT, GMAT and GRE (all sections)
Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Precalculus
Micro-, Macro- and other Economics courses
Biology, Chemistry, Physics and History
I provide a diverse offering of services, including, but not limited to: exam preparation, standardized test prep, homework help, concept reinforcement, projects and essays.
The reason I have found great success as a tutor is because I know how to explain difficult concepts to struggling students. My deep understanding of the various fields allows me to shed new light on topics and show students how to tackle problems in a way they can comprehend. My long and varied teaching experience and familiarity with standardized tests like the SAT enable me to design a unique approach specifically suited to each student's individual strengths and weaknesses. My students enjoy working with me because I think of creative ways to explain complex concepts, keep tutoring sessions fun and stress-free, and always go the extra mile to make sure all of their needs are met. Most of all, I push students to challenge their own standards of success and equip them with the confidence and skills that allow them to exceed their own expectations.
HobbiesSome of my hobbies are country and classical music, poetry, cycling, basketball, yoga and water polo.
I also have an interest in Spanish and learning local languages in whichever location I find myself in. I am an avid reader with a knack for IT and do-it-yourself projects.
I have a real passion for travel and exploring other cultures, especially all their food! I love to cook and bake, and attempt to bring some of my favorite French, Italian and Swahili treats into my own home.
