Experience
I joined Kenyatta University mid 2015 with the intention of graduating, getting a TSC number and thereafter, get posted to high school in the country. Well, things didn’t go as planned. Did my teaching practice mid 2019 upon which the school decided to retain me as B.O.M. Covid came and I was laid off. I resulted to online teaching. August of 2020, I got a request herein. Met up with the family at their home in Lavington and I started tutoring Tina who was then in Year 7 at Braeburn. We would meet once a week for English lessons after school, and later added an online lesson. A year later, I got another request. This time, Kamau’s mum wanted me to teach English to her two lovely boys. We later moved to homeschooling as their supervisor. And the journey has been nothing short of EPIC. Subsequently, having been teaching Tina who is in the British curriculum and homeschooling in the American curriculum forced me to curve out a new niche for myself. I reached out to both curriculums and was given access to their curriculums. While I pride myself in academic excellence and the social aspect of in school learning, I intentionally would love to reach out to those of my students who need supplementary education, are of traveling families, expatriate families, homeschooling families, have school phobia or are ill. Online learning will allow these students get world class education at the comfort of their homes with my help. I hope to hear from you soon.
